Col Howard “Philip” Purcell will be the 162nd Fighter Wing’s next commander as announced by Brig. Gen. Michael McGuire, Adjutant General of the Arizona National Guard, Oct. 9. Purcell is a command pilot who has served in the active duty Air Force and Virginia Air National Guard for 26 years.
