First member to enlist in Tucson's fighter unit
Master Sgt. (Ret.) John Smith, the first person to enlist in the Arizona Air National Guard in Tucson, reutrns to the maintenance backshops where he once worked as a structural repairman, May 13. Smith served at the 162nd Fighter Wing, first known as the 152nd Tactical Fighter Squadron, from the unit's first year in 1956 through his retirement in 1984.
